The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is a joint government organisation responsible for establishing and maintaining the graves of members of the Commonwealth military forces that died in the First and Second World Wars, to build memorials to those whose final resting place is not known, and to keep accurate records of the war dead. The CWGC changed its name in 1960 from the Imperial War Graves Commission, which was formed in 1917.
